Overview

Your privacy is important. PrettyGoodPing needs to know very little about you in order to do its job. The general rule is only to collect information which serves a specific purpose. For instance, when you create an account via GitHub, your publicly available name and email address are used to create your PrettyGoodPing account. That information is helpful when sending you notifications or confirming your identity at a later point.

Types of Data

Some other data (like IP addresses and user agent strings) may be collected for operational reasons, like web analytics and for detecting suspicious logins into your account.

When SMS notifications are introduced, a phone number will be required in order to take advantage of this feature.

There is a session cookie which is needed to allow you to log in to the site. As of this writing, no other cookies are involved in using this site.

Data Sharing

Your personal information will not be shared with a third party unless it is:

• Required for the operation of this service (like using your name and email address to send you an email notification via an email service provider)
• Required for legal reasons (for example a subpoena from law enforcement)

Data Retention

When you delete your account, your data will be removed at the same time. A small amount of data may be retained in order to recognize returning users, analyze usage patterns and prevent abuse.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes to the Privacy Policy will be posted on this page. While this product is still in beta there may not be any specific notifications about changes to this policy, so you may want to check back from time to time for updates.
