Your privacy is important. Pretty Good Ping needs to know very little about you in order to do its job. The general rule is only to collect information which serves a specific purpose. For instance, when you create an account via GitHub, your publicly available name and email address are used to create your Pretty Good Ping account. That information is helpful when sending you notifications or confirming your identity at a later point.
